Eco-Friendly Initiative

Yarn Recycling

Transform your leftover yarn into rewards while supporting sustainable crafting and community programs.

Simple Process

How It Works

1. Bring Your Yarn

Gather any leftover yarn from completed projects. We accept all brands, colors, and fiber types - even partial skeins!

2. Quality Assessment

Our team evaluates the condition and usability. Clean, tangle-free yarn in good condition receives maximum credit value.

3. Earn Bonus Credits

Receive store credit based on yarn quality and quantity. Credits never expire and can be used on any purchase.

4. Help the Community

Your donated yarn supports local schools, retirement homes, and charitable crafting organizations.

Our Mission

Sustainable Crafting

Since launching our recycling program in 2010, we've diverted over 15,000 pounds of yarn from landfills. Every skein gets a second life, whether repurposed into new projects, donated to worthy causes, or transformed into eco-friendly products.

We believe in the circular economy of crafting. The yarn you no longer need becomes someone else's creative opportunity - a student learning their first stitches, a senior finding joy in familiar motions, or a charity volunteer creating warmth for those in need.

Join thousands of crafters who've already participated in creating a more sustainable, generous crafting community.

Important Information

Program Guidelines

What types of yarn do you accept?
We accept all fiber types including wool, cotton, acrylic, blends, and specialty fibers. Yarn can be any weight from lace to super bulky. We welcome both full skeins and partial balls, though yarn must have at least 10 yards remaining to be eligible for credit.
What condition should the yarn be in?
Yarn should be clean, dry, and free from pet hair, smoke odors, or mildew. Slight tangling is acceptable, but severely matted or knotted yarn may only qualify for minimal credit. Used yarn from frogged projects is welcome if it's been rewound or balled properly.
How is credit value calculated?
Credit depends on fiber type, condition, and yardage. Premium fibers in excellent condition earn $0.50-$1.50 per ounce. Standard yarns in good condition earn $0.25-$0.75 per ounce. Lower quality or damaged yarn receives reduced credit but still helps our charitable programs.
Where does donated yarn go?
High-quality yarn is sold in our discount section with proceeds supporting local craft education. Medium-quality yarn goes to schools, senior centers, and community programs. Lower-quality yarn is repurposed into stuffing, pet beds, or other eco-friendly applications. Nothing goes to waste!
Can I donate yarn without receiving credit?
Absolutely! Pure donations are always welcome and deeply appreciated. If you choose to forgo store credit, we'll provide a donation receipt for tax purposes if the total value exceeds $25. Your generosity directly supports our community outreach programs.
